Questions we hear a lot

The short answers live here. The long answers live in the guides.

The answers

Is the kitchen line in or out of the kitchen?

In. The 2-inch non-volley-zone line counts as part of the kitchen. Touch the line or the zone during a volley — follow-through and momentum included — and it is a fault. That is why we shade the zone including its line: the line decides the point.

Why does every doubles game start 0-0-2?

Doubles scores are three numbers: server score, receiver score, and server number (1 or 2). The team that serves first only gets one server to start, so play opens 0-0-2. Call 0-0-1 at the line and you will be corrected quickly.

How does Kitchen Line make money?

Two ways: affiliate commissions when you buy recommended gear through our links (as an Amazon Associate we may earn a commission), and our own original court-native goods. No brand pays for placement in a ranking.

How long does an order take to arrive?

Everything is made to order: 2–5 business days at press, then shipping. Most US orders arrive within 5–10 business days total, with tracking emailed the moment it ships.

Do you put equipment-brand logos on the goods?

Never. Brand names like Franklin, JOOLA, or ONIX appear only in editorial and affiliate text. Every design on our goods is original technical drawing — court anatomy, ball flight, score notation — so it reads as fluency, not a knockoff.
